Description

A sweet treat for Easter!

My mona turned out fairly dense. And, while the flavor was good, a cake with hard-boiled eggs as decoration is not something I would make again.

Decoration (Optional)

Instructions

  1. One. Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F).
Two. Beat the eggs, zest, and sugar together in a bowl
Three. Mix the flour, yeast, and salt together in a separate bowl.
Four. Gradually pass the mixture of flour and yeast through a sieve and add it to the egg and sugar mixture.
Five. Stir constantly while adding the almond flour
Six. Whisk the egg whites in a separate bowl until they form peaks.
Seven. Once they are half whisked, add 1 tablespoon of sugar, once whisked blend in with the flour and egg mixture. Knead until the dough comes together.
Eight. Place it on a baking tray lined with parchment paper.
Nine. Decorate the cake with hard-boiled eggs if wanted. (I pre-boiled the eggs for 3 minutes and dyed them colors).
Ten. In a small bowl, whisk together the egg yolk and water to make an egg wash. Brush the egg wash over the cake.
Eleven. Bake the cake in the preheated oven for 30-35 minutes, or until it is golden brown.

Optional-add butter and chocolate melted together (or anything else!) to cover the top of the cake.
Let the cake cool before serving.
